Spiced Maple Walnuts

‘Tis the season for holiday parties a plenty! Along with a nice bottle of wine, I like to bring a homemade treat for the host/hostess. There’s no need to spend hours in the kitchen whipping up an elaborate dish before a get-together when these festive nuts take mere minutes to prepare.

I started with Ellie Krieger’s base recipe for Maple Glazed Walnuts (linked below) and added a trio of warm spices to liven up the flavor. These sweet nuts would perfectly compliment a winter salad or a steaming bowl of oatmeal, but they are also delicious enjoyed right out of your hand.

Adapted from Ellie Krieger’s Maple Glazed Walnuts

  • 2 cups raw walnut halves
  • 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 tsp ground cloves

  1. Heat a dry skillet over medium-high heat. Add walnuts, maple syrup, spices, and salt.
  2. Cook, stirring frequently, until syrup has caramelized and nuts are toasted, about 3 minutes. Let cool.
