Monday Musings + Red Berry Salad with Granola-Crusted Goat Cheese

1. Our move this weekend went smoothly… up until last night.

While I was taking a shower and John was washing the dishes after dinner, water starting pouring out of the powder room toilet’s base, and leaked all the way down into the basement. Turns out there was a pretty bad clog from the previous owners, (FYI DON’T use those Cottonelle “flushable” wipes… apparently they aren’t exactly fully flushable), and the main pipe drain for the house decided to overflow just in time for us to move in.

Ugh.

The issue has been remedied, but the floor in the powder room and the carpet in the finished portion of the basement will both have to be replaced. Thus is life as a homeowner, I suppose!

 

 

2. Onto some more pleasant topics.

We were utterly wiped out the evening of moving day, so an easy and simple dinner was a no-brainer. John fired up our brand-new grill, and presented me with a plate of delicious eats.

Burgers with colby jack + veggies. So good.

 

 

3. It’s been quite cool in the mornings lately (although it sounds like a couple of 90° days await us later this week) so I kicked off the next morning with the first bowl mug of hot oatmeal I’ve had in some time.

Enjoyed on our deck overlooking the conservation land abutting our property!

 

 

4. You can expect some new recipes coming just as soon as we’re fully settled and our kitchen is up and running, but until then let’s revisit a lovely summer salad I posted last year and am sharing on The Back Burner today:

Red Berry Salad with Granola-Crusted Goat Cheese.
